PRICING & ESTIMATES
Cost depends on the size of your move, distance, and how much labor and time it requires. To give you the most accurate number, we start by asking what items need to be moved and request an itemized list and photos — or we can come in person or hop on a video call to see everything firsthand. From there we send you an estimate for approval before any work begins, so there are no surprises about scope.
Estimates are non-binding unless agreed otherwise in writing. We strongly recommend an in-person or virtual walkthrough before your move so we can see everything ahead of time — this is what helps us give accurate pricing and avoid surprises on moving day. Once you authorize the estimate, we also provide an expectations document outlining exactly what's planned, so both sides are on the same page.
It depends on your move. Hourly pricing tends to work best for local moves, smaller jobs, or moves where the scope is still uncertain — you only pay for the time actually used, and it's easy to adjust if plans change. Flat-rate pricing tends to work better for long-distance moves or larger jobs where you want a predictable total cost upfront with no time pressure. We'll recommend the right structure for your specific move when we send your estimate.
Yes, a deposit secures your move date and crew. The remaining balance is due at arrival and/or upon completion of services. If you're able to put down a larger deposit upfront, you also qualify for up to 8% off your total move cost.
We accept credit and debit cards and cash. The only additional fee you might run into is a processing fee if you choose to pay online by card — cash avoid that fee entirely.
Yes, two ways. First, we offer up to 8% off your total when you're able to provide a larger down deposit. Second, as a thank-you to those who've served, we offer a military discount that lowers our rate to $49 per hour per person for military personnel and their families.

"I was nervous about hidden fees since I'd had bad experiences with movers before. K.I.M.S. was completely upfront from the start — they sent a clear estimate after the owner Kesi do an in-person estimate, and the final price matched almost exactly. I also got a discount for putting down a bigger deposit which I didn't even know was an option until they told me. Really refreshing."

WHATS INCLUDED
Yes. Every move includes basic moving supplies as a starting point, and we also offer dedicated box and material delivery plus eco-friendly plastic bin rentals as a sturdier, reusable alternative to cardboard. If you'd rather not pack at all, our packing and unpacking service handles it start to finish — including careful wrapping and organizing for safe transport.
Yes. Disassembly and reassembly of basic furniture is included as a standard part of every residential move, along with furniture padding, shrink wrap, and door/stair/floor protection so nothing gets scuffed along the way.
Yes. We have specialized equipment and a trained crew specifically for piano moves, and our white glove moving service covers other delicate, oversized, or high-value items that need extra-careful handling beyond a standard move.
Yes — our labor-for-hire service is built exactly for this. If you already have your own truck, container, or rental, our crew can show up just to load, unload, or rearrange furniture, no full moving service required.
Yes, we offer storage options to bridge the gap if there's a delay between your move-out and move-in dates, so your belongings stay safe and secure until you're ready for delivery.

"I honestly didn't realize how much was included until moving day. They wrapped every piece of furniture, protected the floors and doorways, took apart my bed frame and put it all back together at the new place — and even helped with my piano which I was really worried about. I didn't have to lift a single thing. Worth every penny."

BOOKING & SCHEDULING
We recommend booking 2 to 4 weeks ahead, especially during peak season (May through September) or for weekend dates, since those fill up fastest. That said, we know moves don't always go as planned — reach out even on short notice and we'll do everything we can to fit you in, including same-day local moves when our schedule allows.
Yes — just reach out to our team as early as possible by phone, text, or chat (all available 24/7) and we'll work to accommodate your new date. The earlier you let us know, the more flexibility we have with crew scheduling.
Yes. We're available Monday through Friday around the clock (24 hours), and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. For holiday availability specifically, give us a call or text and we'll confirm based on the date.
We serve Central to Southern New Jersey, including Ocean, Gloucester, Monmouth, Burlington, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Camden, Atlantic, and Mercer counties. We also handle long-distance and interstate moves outside these core areas — just ask when requesting your quote.

"We had a last-minute closing date change and needed to move a whole week earlier than planned. I texted K.I.M.S. on a Thursday night not expecting much, and they had us confirmed for Saturday morning by the next day. I don't know how they pulled it off but they did. Couldn't be more grateful."

INSURANCE & LIABILITY
Yes. K.I.M.S. is fully licensed and insured, operating in compliance with the New Jersey Public Movers and Warehousemen Licensing Act (NJPM 39PM00500100, DOT 4197741, MC 1719484). We're also BBB accredited, which means your belongings are protected every step of the way.
Claims must be submitted in writing within 90 days of delivery, along with supporting documentation like photos and a description of the damage. We process all claims in line with New Jersey regulations. One important note: items you pack yourself carry limited liability coverage, which is why we recommend our professional packing service for fragile or high-value belongings — our team uses proper padding and wrapping techniques that reduce the risk of damage in the first place.
Many apartment buildings and offices require a COI before move day, and we provide these through our COI services. Requests should be submitted in advance so we have time to prepare it correctly, and note that additional fees may apply depending on your building's specific requirements.
We do not transport or insure cash, jewelry, important documents, or hazardous and illegal materials. If you have any high-value items beyond standard furniture and household goods, flag them when requesting your estimate so we can plan accordingly.

"My building required a COI before they'd let any movers in, and the last company I called had no idea what I was talking about. K.I.M.S. knew exactly what was needed, handled it in advance, and everything was ready before moving day. On top of that, knowing they're fully licensed with the DOT and BBB accredited gave me real peace of mind."

MOVING DAY
Before we contact you, it helps to think through a few things: an itemized list of everything you're moving, your timeline and any move-out/move-in deadlines, your budget, any special handling needs (fragile, valuable, or bulky items, stairs, elevators, narrow doorways), and what level of service you want — full packing, partial help, or just transportation. We've also put together a free Stress-Free Moving Guide that walks through a complete checklist.
Yes, you or an assigned representative should be present, particularly for the final walkthrough at both pickup and drop-off. This lets us confirm everything's accounted for and address any remaining concerns together before the job is considered complete — it's the last of our 6-step process, right after unloading and placement.
Let us know about stairs, elevators, narrow doorways, or parking restrictions when you request your estimate, so we can plan crew size and timing accordingly. Clients are responsible for arranging parking and elevator reservations and confirming any building requirements ahead of time — delays caused by access issues that weren't flagged in advance may be billable.
Local moves typically cover short distances within the same city or nearby areas and are usually completed in just one day — most run around 3 to 5 hours depending on size and access. We'll give you a time estimate up front as part of your quote so you can plan your day around it.

"Kesi and his crew showed up right on time and walked through everything with me before they started. They asked about tight spots, the elevator schedule we'd reserved, and confirmed the layout at the new place before unloading a single box. The final walkthrough at the end made me feel like nothing was left to chance. Genuinely the smoothest move I've ever had."
